UPRIGHT SHOWCASE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Thank you for your recent purchase of a quality display cabinet from Showcase Designs! The following assembly tips will help you set up your showcase for the first time, or offer a reference for moving it to another location.
1: PLANNING
Your showcase is equipped with an interior light. It is helpful to know where the outlet is before you get everything put together. If the outlet is directly behind your showcase, make sure you plug the cord in first.
2: LEVELING
If your showcase is not on a level surface, use tapered shims beneath the case to make sure that it is level both side to side and front to back. Tap the shims into position at the corners of the display case and trim the excess with a chisel.
3: INSTALL SHELF BRACKETS
The shelf brackets are inserted into the slots in the standards along the inside rear of the case. They are tapped down until there is metal-to-metal contact at the bottom of the slot. A common spacing method is to start so that the top of the first bracket is just below the second screw from the top of the standard. Place brackets all the way down the standard just below every other screw from the first bracket.
4: INSTALL SHELF RESTS
The rubber shelf rests fit over the top of the metal brackets. One is placed at the rear, near the back-standard and the second at the front of the bracket near the raised lip.
5: INSTALL SHELVES
Tilt the shelf end to get it into the showcase. It is a good practice to start at the top shelves and work downward. The shelves sit on top of the installed shelf rests.
6: INSTALL DOOR CLIPS
Your showcase comes with two glass doors. Included with the accessory kit are four black clips. They are installed two per door on the top corners, each about one inch from the edge. They provide a guide in the upper channel and minimize the rattling of glass in the channel.
7: INSTALL DOORS
Start with either door and turn it so that the bottom edge, which has a corner of glass protruding from the aluminum shoe, is toward the left side of the case. Center the door in the case opening, and lift it into the top-back channel. Lower it down so that the wheels are on the back rail of the lower track. It should roll easily—if there is drag it is not sitting correctly on the rail of the track.
Position the 2nd door so that the glass protruding from the bottom shoe is turned towards the right side of the case. Center the door in the case opening and lift it into the top-front channel. On the commercial style cases, there is a “security screw” in this channel towards the right so that the doors cannot be lifted off when the case is locked. Make sure that you insert the door to the left of this screw. Lower the door into the front rail of the lower track. Again, it should roll easily.
8: INSTALL DOOR KNOBS
Close both doors and take the door knobs from the accessory kit. These knobs are a “peel and stick” installation. The adhesive is very aggressive—they cannot be repositioned once they touch the door, so be sure they are properly aligned before allowing them to touch any surface. The knob location is a matter of personal preference, but we typically install them 32 inches from the bottom of the door and ½ inch from the outer edge. |
